May 11, 2008 Sunset Beach Art Festival - This annual event is a local favorite. Held on the greenbelt (North & South Pacific), the event begins at 10 a.m. and goes till late afternoon. Cost: Free admission. Arts, crafts, a fundraiser raffle, live music and some vendor booths with soda and hot dogs are available. Take mom for Mother's Day and buy her a gift right there.

May 11, 2008  Mother's Day Brunch - The Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach will be hosting an extravagant Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday May 11th. Families will be able to enjoy ocean views and live entertainment while they dine and spoil Mom! Brunch will be presented in three seatings at 10:00a.m., 12:30p.m., and 3:00p.m. The price for this affair is $75 for adults and $19.95 for children ages 6-12, plus tax and gratuity. Cost: $4/person, kids under 7 year are free.  Time 7 - 11 a.m. Sorry, no phone number contact has been provided. Unless it rains (unlikely) or there's some natural disaster, the event is a go.

May 11, 2008  Play - Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Book by Lawrence Kasha and David Landay; Lyrics by Johnny Mercer; Music by Gene de Paul; New Songs by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn; Directed by Martie Ramm. Pontipee brothers live a rough, lonely existence when Adam, the eldest of seven brothers, rides into town one day to pick up some supplies and also picks up a headstrong bride! Millie valiantly attempts to civilize the brothers so that they can find brides of their own. But Millie’s plan backfires when the brothers decide to snatch six women to be their brides! May 11, 2008  2nd Annual Surf City Lacrosse Tournament - Orange County Lacrosse Association will sponsor a tournament with high school, middle school and youth teams, including full field play, 40 minute games, 4 game minimum and championship format. It will be strictly stick city when these girls and young women come together to compete in a really cool sport that is taking the fields by storm. May 11, 2008 Shipley Nature Center -  Restoration Days. The Friends of Shipley Nature Center will be planting, weeding and cleaning up, and they need your assistance. On the first Saturday of the month, the public can tour Shipley Nature Center at 11 a.m., in addition to the clean up activities that begin at 9 a.m. and go till noon. Location: Central Park West, near Breakfast in the Park or on 17829 Golden West Street, between Slater and Central Library Drive, Huntington Beach, CA. Cost: Free. May 11, 2008  Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail.  No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
