Shipley Nature Center presents The Magic of Composting lecture on Vermicomposting (composting food scraps with worms) and Backyard Composting (traditional composting with yard waste and other organics). Learn how easily you can transform your kitchen scraps and backyard cuttings into rich compost for your plants and gardens. Event will repeat on July 11, 2009, if you can't attend. June 20, 2009 Art - Windows Gallery in Huntington Beach Central Library exhibit features 19th century urban planner Ildefons Cerdà. Designing the expansion of Barcelona, his plans included grids to accommodate pedestrians, carriages, urban railway lines and sewers to prevent frequent floods, while still addressing public enhancements through private gardens and other amenities. Honoring the works of one of America's esteemed artists, oil paintings that have never been exhibited until now are featured in the rare collection of art by Zornes, who passed away in February after reaching 100 years of age.
