May 5, 2005 Interfaith Council Prayer Breakfast - Greater
Huntington Beach Interfaith Council (GHBIC) will host a Prayer Breakfast for
the National Day of Prayer on May 5. Continental breakfast includes
burritos, fresh fruit, pastries and beverages. KOCE-TV news anchor, Ed
Arnold, will be the Master of Ceremonies and Erin Runnion, the mother of
Samantha Runnion, will be a special guest speaker. The 25-member St.
Bonaventure Catholic Church's Children's Choir will be featured during the
breakfast. Annual Peacekeeper Awards will be presented to Mayor Larry
Crandall of Fountain Valley; HB Police Chief Ken Small; Fountain Valley
Police Chief Paul A. Sorrell; R. Marshall Tanner, LDS Church, Life Time
Achievement Award; and Rev. Peggy Price, President of the nonprofit
organization. Reservations are required for the event. Time: 7:30 am.

May 5, 2005 Play - The Crucible by Arthur Miller (Death
of a Salesman). Although the events of the
play are based on the witchcraft trials that took place in Salem,
Massachusetts in 1692, Miller was liberal in his fictionalization of those
events. The
witchcraft trials grew out of moral system of the Puritans, which
promoted interference in others' affairs as well as a repressive code of
conduct that frowned on any diversion from norms of behavior. The play is presented by Huntington Beach
Playhouse at Huntington Beach Library and Cultural Center Theater, 7111
