June 22, 2006 2006 Legacy, Outstanding Citizen & Athena Luncheon - Legacy Awards is a program that honors family members who successfully work together, make the community a better place and enrich one another professionally and personally. The Legacy Awards Program was originated and co-sponsored by Ilona & Company at Re/Max Real Estate Services.The Outstanding Citizen Award is presented to an individual who meets the following criteria: The recipient must live or work in Huntington Beach; he/she must have performed an extraordinary act or service in the community– this includes acts of heroism, humanitarianism, charity or other “outstanding service”; the service performed must be voluntary, not as paid work; meritorious service can be within the last year or over a span of years. The Athena Award Program celebrates the potential of all women as valued members and leaders of the community and recognizes those who support them. The Athena Award, Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, honors individuals who strive toward the highest levels of professional accomplishment: women who excel in their chosen field, have devoted time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and who also open paths so that others may follow.
