Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail. No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open during daylight hours.

Belmont Shore Christmas Parade - 29th Annual Belmont Shore Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. celebrates the holidays with 75 marching bands, local personalities and dignitaries, floats representing Long Beach businesses and associations. Bringing the parade to a close is the favorite Santa Claus. This year's parade theme is ‘IT’S A GREEN CHRISTMAS”, RECYCLE, REUSE, RENEW! Entries are encouraged to embrace the theme through the decoration of their floats and costumes. An estimated 50,000 people line the 15 block stretch of Second Street. The following are the affected streets and the times of their closures: Livingston Avenue will be closed from Ocean Blvd. to East Second Street at 3 p.m. for staging entrants.
