Boys & Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley HOSTS

December 17, 2009—On December 17, 2009, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley will host its annual “On Dasher, On Dancer…” Holiday Party for 240 “at-risk” youth in communities throughout Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley at the Club’s Kingston Branch, located at 16582 Brookhurst Street in Fountain Valley, between the hours of 6:30pm – 9:15pm.

Each year, this invitation-only event is designed to give children from low-income families and other “at-risk” members a special night to remember. At no cost to them, children will receive brand-new toys and gifts, have photos taken with Santa, play games, make holiday keepsakes, sing Christmas carols, and enjoy dinner with one another. Children are selected from the scholarship programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Huntington Beach and Kingston Branches and from the free Twilight Education Project, a literacy program for immigrant families.

The “On Dasher, On Dancer…” Holiday Party is made possible through donations given to the Club throughout the year, including sponsorships from the Huntington Beach Surf City Rotary and the Fountain Valley Kiwanis. Toys are provided through partnerships with Toys for Tots, NBC’s Today Show Toy Drive, the Orange County Scroll Saw Association, and the Orange County Woodworkers Association. These important contributions, along with community volunteers and Boys & Girls Club staff, will give children who might not otherwise have a Christmas celebration an event they will remember forever.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley was established in 1967 and is now the largest provider of youth-related programs and services in the community, with more than 8,000 members in 2009. Club services include: before and after school care, bus transportation to and from local schools, sports leagues, fine arts programs, tutorial programs, afterschool Kindergarten programs and much more. In 2008, the Club was ranked among the top four clubs in the nation by Boys & Girls Clubs of America for Overall Program Excellence. Club sites are furnished with computer labs, art rooms, outdoor playgrounds, gymnasiums, and education centers. Discounted services are offered for low-income families.
