Location: Bolsa Chica State Beach, 17851 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach, CA.

Grunion Run – Bolsa Chica State Beach hosts a few grunion run events throughout the summer. Participants meet in the Lifeguard Headquarters building for a short craft and presentation before going out to meet the grunion with our staff members. This is the only way to experience a grunion run on our beach due to beach curfew. Space is limited and you MUST reserve a spot for your group by emailing NorthSector.Interp@parks.ca.gov. During open months, you must have a fishing license to catch grunion.

Grunion hunting is a unique way of catching a certain type of little silver fish with your bare hands. Yes, you can eat them, and indeed, should only catch and keep what you will eat! Here's more information.
