SUMMER SURF CONTEST (see event for 2010)
The 39th Annual Huntington Beach
City Surfing Championship is
sponsored by Huntington Surf and
Sport and Dukes, and will be
hosted on our HB City Beach this
year, as usual.
Participation will be limited to persons residing
in the Huntington Beach Union
High School District. There will
be free style divisions for
Super Masters, Grand Masters,
Seniors,
Masters, Men, Juniors, Boys,
Women and Menehune. Winners will
receive beautiful trophies.
Driver’s license or school ID
with proof of
age (birth certifi cate) must be
presented at time of
registration. Information will be available at
the Community
Services Department. Each
participant will receive a
T-shirt with a special surf
logo.
39th Annual Surf Contest
The 39th Annual Huntington Beach
Surf Contest was held on the
south side of the pier. There
were 175 participants from the
Huntington Beach area who
competed for prizes and bragging
rights. The contest was open to
all age categories, but was
limited to those residing in the
Huntington Beach High School
District area. The event was run
by the City of Huntington Beach
Community Services Department
and had enormous support from
local businesses. Huntington
Surf and Sport donated prizes to
winners as well as providing
T-shirts to all of the
participants. Java Point
provided coffee and donuts both
mornings. The event wrapped up
with boxed lunches provided by
Duke’s and HSS for all of the
participants. Awards were given
for 1st through 6th place in
each division. The overall award
was presented to Greg Eisle,
winner of the Super Heat, who
dedicated his performance to
John Kissell. Other division
winners included: Henry
Noppenberger for Grand Masters,
John Mitchell for Super Grand
Masters, Logan Strook for Men’s,
Craig Bartlett for Boys, Brook
Daigneault for Women’s, Cody
Wehrer for Masters, Shayne
Nelson for Juniors, and Benjamin
Seaberry for Menehune.
