Huntington Beach Surfing Band Schedule 6/7/09
Surfin’ Sundays Concert at The Pier Plaza AmphitheaterTime: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Surfin Sundays at Pier Plaza offers an all-star cast of surf bands
BANDS:
Pyronautsare an exceptionally high energetic group reigning from Northern
California. The Pyronauts have played at the museum for 3 years and we decided
it was about time they were given the chance to play at Pier Plaza.
Tsunami Blue is a dynamite group you won’t want to miss.
BoardwalkersDan Valentie and his group give us that powerhouse twist to an
otherwise original 3rd wave sound. Dan plays a mean Jimi Hendrix with all the
bells and whistles that go with it. Dan also created a beautiful song called
“Dragonfly” in honor of Special Events Director, Linda Miller.
Outer Wavehas re-grouped into a 3 piece traditional surf band consisting of
Allen Bridgewater on bass, Tony Ruiz on drums and Jeff “Mac” MacDonald on lead
with possible special guest appearance by current Surf Rockers rhythm guitarist
Jerry Rogers.
Slacktonewith fast fingers Dave Wronski on lead guitar, former Dick Dale drummer
Dusty Watson pounding his heart out and current Dick Dale bass player Sam Bolle
you are in for a killer 3rd wave surf set.
John Blair & The Trespassers At long last John from the original Jon & The
Nightriders has decided to make a comeback and we are most fortunate to have him
grace our stage with his powerful presence. You are in for a real kick in the
pants on this one.
The public is invited to join in the festivities and help us celebrate 13 years
of great music, from dedicated musicians who donate their precious time in
support of the museum. The 15 concert lineup features 39 bands, oldies but
goodies and promising newcomers as well as celebrities like Dick Dale, Dean
Torrence, John Blair & Eddie Bertrand, who just happen to drop in. Bands from
the 60’s, Northern California, Oregon, Las Vegas, Texas, Georgia, San Diego,
Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles & Orange Counties are all featured in the
FREE event!
This year's concert series is dedicated to the Huntington Beach Surfing Museum
Founder/Director at Large Natalie Kotsch, who has a new cancer treatment, plus
supporter, guitar legend, Dick Dale now cancer free, after undergoing successful
reconstructive surgery. Dale is back on stage performing.
