Shipley Nature Center's Annual
Spring Festival showcases how
far the volunteers have come to
turn this once decaying forest
into a beautiful nature trail,
friendly habitat, and
educational resource meeting
guidelines for school fieldtrip
activities and learning
programs.
On the special once-a-year
Spring Fest, kids and adults get
to have fun with a Continental
breakfast ($5), Habitat Tour at
10 a.m., Maypole Dance at 10:30;
and band, Fifth Wheel 11:30 a.m.
- 1:30 p.m.
What is there to see and do?
First, you can wander the trails
of the Nature Center and see
migrating birds, butterflies,
compost section, and there are
all kinds of plants and flowers.
The festival will include booths
from community groups that
include the International
Surfing Museum, Huntington
Harbour Garden Club, Huntington
Beach Tree Society, Bolsa Chica
Land Trust and more (subject to
change.)
Next you can buy flowers and
plants that are sold as a
fundraiser to support the
museum.
Hang out under the shade of
Huntington Beach's redwood
grove. Though it is a small
grove and the trees aren't as
tall as the forest giants of
Northern California, standing in
the shade of a redwood provides
a cool experience on a sunny
day.
Finally, wander inside to the
touch and feel areas and
displays that even adults find
interesting and compelling.
Then if it moves you, you can
join the organization, make a
donation or come back again and
again to enjoy this treasure in
the midst of a 350 acre
city-operated forest.
Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: 17829 Golden
West Street, Huntington Beach,
CA.

event, call: (714) 842-4722.
Admission is free.
