Huntington Beach Fire Rings Questions & Answers

Below are REAL questions we receive from visitors to Huntington Beach. HuntingtonBeachEvents.com hopes this will help you plan your excellent trip!

Question: Where are the bonfire rings?

Answer:

Huntington City Beach
Huntington State Beach
Bolsa Chica State Beach

Question: Hi I'm trying to plan a day trip to the beach, I'm from Arizona so I'm not familiar with all the rules. I know there are fire pits and are first come first serve but are you allowed to bring a BBQ on the beach? And if so does it have to be near a fire pit?

Answer: Here are rules posted on the California State Beach - Bolsa Chica Beach website about what you can bring:

XIII. FIRES:
Fires are permitted in appropriate pits only. No fires are allowed in the sand. Gas, propane or electric grills allowed on the sand but must be 18” off the ground. Charcoal can only be used in a concrete fire ring or on grills placed in a concrete fire ring. Charcoal can also be used in the onsite barbecues in picnic areas at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Dutch ovens can only be placed within a fire pit. No charcoal in sand. No cooking under sand, pig, and clambakes, etc. allowed.

Question: If someone is interested in holding a bonfire event at HB tomorrow, is there a process to reserve a pit? If not, what time is it recommended for guests to arrive to get a hold of a bonfire pit? Please let me know. Thank you! -- SI

Answer: Hi, There is no reservation option. I can't really say when you need to stake out a pit. It's Friday, summer is here, and it all depends if big buses of church groups, etc. just show up. I wish there was an answer to help you but it's like going to a restaurant that doesn't take reservations. You just have to show up and hope it works out. Good luck!

Question: Are the fire pits close for this weekend? I just found out they are close from now on. Can you please confirm the status.

Answer: Hi, I don't know what city you are asking about. They are open in Huntington Beach from 6 a.m. -10 p.m. every day. There is no closure there.

Question: Hi, My girlfriends and I we are going to come in Huntington beach on vaca. Are still there Bonfire rings available in those beaches and is it still allowed?. Could have the right position of the spots. Do you know any place where I could find firewood nearby?Thank you for your time

Answer: Yes, the bonfire rings will remain in Huntington Beach. They will not be removed. I don't understand the question about "right position of the spots" but I think you are asking if you can reserve a fire ring? If so, no, they are first come, first serve. You must find one and stake it out. Firewood is available at beach concessions nearby, and at the grocery stores nearby. If you stay at the Hyatt they offer a s'more amenity. There's a CVS downtown that might have firewood, too. Have fun!

Question:Hi! I have a youth group of 6th-8th graders (approx age 10-13) that wants to do a bonfire in Huntington in late September. I'm wondering which beach you would recommendfor kids in the evening. The group would be between 20 and 30. Please let me know what you think, and if you could provide an address so I can inform the bus company, that would be great! Thanks so much!

Answer: Two bonfire beaches are Bolsa Chica State Beach and Huntington State Beach. Have in mind which direction you will be driving from. That will help in making a decision which beach to choose.
