3/1 Marines 5k Fun Run/Walk. Runners take off from the beach parking lot at Beach Blvd./PCH and proceed North, past the Pier and back.

The Marines will be leading the run this year in cadence, per tradition when the Battalion is home. The 5k run/walk will take place at 8:30 am along the paved beach path from Beach Blvd to 9th Street and back.

Pancake breakfast served by HB Firefighters begins at 8:30 a.m.and is open to the public. After the run, HB Firefighters cook & serve pancakes. The breakfast is free to registered runners and $5 for the public. Awards will be presented at 9:30 am. No animals are allowed on the course for this event.

History: The City of Huntington Beach adopted the 3rd Battalion/1st Marines in 2005. Huntington Beach 3/1 Marines Foundation was formed in 2006 to oversee all projects, programs and activities in support of the Marines, Sailors and Families of the "Thundering Third" based in Camp Pendleton. In 2012, Huntington Beach Municipal Employees Association stepped in to sponsor the 3/1 Marines.
