NSSA Surfing Contests Huntington Beach

NSSA or National Scholastic Surfing Association (nssa.org) is, as the name indicates, a surfing group for students. You must be enrolled in specific schools to compete. The annual event has regional competitions. Huntington Beach falls within the Southwest Conference area so you may see competitions throughout the year next to Huntington Beach Pier.

ABOUT: NSSA Southwest Conference serves the Southern California region. The conference conducts events from Santa Barbara to San Diego. As the largest membership conference in the NSSA, it is considered the highest level of surfing competition in the western U.S. by the surfing industry. Approx. 1000 members from the entire state of California can compete in the Southwest Conference events.

The Southwest Conference runs three separate competition formats each season:

Open Season is a ten event schedule running from September to June.

Explorer Season is a ten event schedule running from September to June.

College Team Season is a four event schedule.
