October 10, 2005 Drama: Cold Reading Workshop for Television. This is an extensive workshop for actors working on camera with script and scenes from television, commercials and films. Director Robert Michael Conrad will focus on the following: understand how to create an effective character, learn how to be confident and own the role, apply and learn improvisational techniques, and work in front of the camera with cue cards. All work in class will be played back for critique. Actors will work with scripts from commercials, films, and sitcoms. A $6.00 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the workshop. "Celebrate with the Stewards: 10 years of Habitat Restoration on the Bolsa Chica Mesa" will feature an illustrated history of efforts to plant and tend to drought-tolerant native species at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. There will be a sneak peek slide show promoting the 2006 "Wings over Bolsa" bird calendar, which is an annual fundraiser for the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, plus cake and refreshments. October 10, 2005 Surfing - Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships hosted by Surfing America for ages Juniors (Under 18, Under 16, Girls Under 18) ISA AGM Eligibility: Any NGB in good standing with the ISA may send selected athletes to participate on their behalf. Type of Wave: Consistent breaks on any swell. North side has a nice right all the way from outside to a fast inside section. Southside has a nice left, fast inside section. The pier is located at Main St. and Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach. The south side of the pier is where most championships have been held. Anticipated Size of Wave: 2 - 4 feet. Air Temperature: 62 degrees Fahrenheit (16 degrees Celsius). Event is held through October 16 in Huntington Beach. International Surfing Association (ISA) in Olympic Games format with participants representing countries. Medals are awarded to the top four finalists. Location: Huntington Beach City Beach near the Huntington Beach Pier at Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street, Huntington Beach. Free to watch. The Hilton Waterfront Beach Hotelwill serve as Event Headquarters with all event announcements posted there and at the contest site on the beach.
