October 29, 2005 Oktoberfest at Old World Village
Restaurant - Get out your lederhosen and learn the Chicken Dance at
Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach. The event includes a live German band,
dancing and tasty German foods from bratwürst with sauerkraut and potato
salad to apple strudel. Shot girls in dirndl skirts sell liqueurs and a bar
sells German and import beers plus mixed drinks. Oktoberfest offers adults
only nights on Saturdays. This often sells out to standing room only crowds
that line up and wait for an opportunity to enter the beer hall. Come early
for seating. There's also outdoor patio seating for smokers. Location: 7561

October 29, 2005 Play - Let Him Sleep 'Til It's
Time for His Funeral (Comedy) by Peg Kehret. This play tells the story
of a fellow's upcoming 50th birthday, an event he is not looking forward to.
In an effort to try to lift him out of the grave of his depressing thoughts
of impending senior citizenship, his wife decides to throw him a funeral,
invite all his friends, and show him how much he means to everyone. This
leads to a series of misunderstandings.
The play is presented by Huntington Beach
Playhouse at Huntington Beach Library and Cultural Center Theater, 7111

County filmmaker Paul Kraus. The Jumping Flea, a cross-cultural and historic
look at the ukulele, has its premiere showing Saturday, October 29th at 7:30
pm at Mann's Pierside Pavilion 6 Theater, 300 Pacific Coast Highway,
directly across from the Huntington Beach Pier. On the same ticket, showing
at 9:30 pm, is The ShapeMakers, a documentary about surfboard shapers
featuring personal interviews with renowned shapers in California, Hawaii,
