October 9, 2005  Volleyball - Four Person Draw Volleyball Tournament - Includes Volleyball Tournament of local pro and advanced players. Four person teams are invited to play or just watch this event. Proceeds benefit the Long Beach State Men's Volleyball Team. Location: Huntington City Beach, Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street.

October 9, 2005  OCTO Vintage VW Bus Show - Volkswagen Vintage Bus Show. The West Coast's largest gathering of vintage Volkswagen buses includes hundreds of original and restored VW buses, trucks, pop-top campers, and specialty VW trucks. A display and swap meet, for 1967 and earlier buses will also be held. Presented by the Orange County Transporter Organization. Time: 7 a.m. to Noon. Cost: $2/ 12 and under free. October 9, 2005   Oktoberfest at Old World Village Restaurant - Sunday afternoons are Family Days at Oktoberfest. Get out your lederhosen and learn the Chicken Dance at Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach. The event includes a live German band, dancing and tasty German foods from bratwürst with sauerkraut and potato salad to apple strudel. October 9, 2005   Surfing - National Scholastic Surfing Association NSSA 2005/2006 Southwest Conference Open Season Students Only. This A rated 2-day event is contest #2. It runs from October 8 to 9. It will be held at Ponto in Carlsbad. It is open to students only (age as of 1/1/06) mens 16 and up; juniors 13 to 15 years; boys 12 and under; mini groms 10 and under; longboard all ages; womens all ages. October 9, 2005  Surfing - Opening Ceremony of  Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships hosted by Surfing America  for ages Juniors (Under 18, Under 16, Girls Under 18)  Eligibility: Any NGB in good standing with the ISA may send selected athletes to participate on their behalf. Type of Wave: Consistent breaks on any swell. North side has a nice right all the way from outside to a fast inside section. Southside has a nice left, fast inside section. The pier is located at Main St. and Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach. The south side of the pier is where most championships have been held. Anticipated Size of Wave: 2 - 4 feet. Air Temperature: 62 degrees Fahrenheit (16 degrees Celsius). Event is held through October 16 in Huntington Beach. International Surfing Association (ISA) in Olympic Games format with participants representing countries. Medals are awarded to the top four finalists. Location: Huntington Beach City Beach near the Huntington Beach Pier at Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street, Huntington Beach. Free to watch. The Hilton Waterfront Beach Hotel will serve as Event Headquarters with all event announcements posted there and at the contest site on the beach. The AGM, team registration, media accreditation, judging seminar and other important meetings will be held at the Hilton. The hotel is located beachfront, at 21100 Pacific Coast Hwy.
