It will be held at Ponto in Carlsbad. It is open to students only (age as of 1/1/06) mens 16 and up; juniors 13 to 15 years; boys 12 and under; mini groms 10 and under; longboard all ages; womens all ages. October 9, 2005 Surfing - Opening Ceremony of Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships hosted by Surfing America for ages Juniors (Under 18, Under 16, Girls Under 18) Eligibility: Any NGB in good standing with the ISA may send selected athletes to participate on their behalf. Type of Wave: Consistent breaks on any swell. North side has a nice right all the way from outside to a fast inside section. Southside has a nice left, fast inside section. The pier is located at Main St. and Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach. The south side of the pier is where most championships have been held. Anticipated Size of Wave: 2 - 4 feet. Air Temperature: 62 degrees Fahrenheit (16 degrees Celsius). Event is held through October 16 in Huntington Beach. International Surfing Association (ISA) in Olympic Games format with participants representing countries. Medals are awarded to the top four finalists. Location: Huntington Beach City Beach near the Huntington Beach Pier at Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street, Huntington Beach. Free to watch. The Hilton Waterfront Beach Hotelwill serve as Event Headquarters with all event announcements posted there and at the contest site on the beach.
