Adventure Playground - Adventure
Playground Huntington Beach. Located at
Central Park, Adventure Playground allows
kids to romp, roam, play in the mud, build
forts, rafts, and generally get wet and
dirty in pure fun that kids simply love.
Rafting on a shallow pond, navigating a rope
bridge, sliding down a mud slide and fort
building with hammers, wood and nails are a
few of the activities under adult
supervision. Tennis shoes are required, and
kids should bring a change of shoes and
clothes in a plastic bag or some protected
parcel. Showers and changing area are
available for an event best suited for kids
ages 5 to 12 years. Adventure Playground is
open through August 18. Time: 10 a.m. to 5

residency; $3/group per person,

a modern day musical set in 1970's New York

Art Exhibit - Milford Zornes, N.A., American
Artist. Honoring the works of one of
America's esteemed artists, oil paintings
that have never been exhibited until now are
featured in the rare collection of art by
Zornes, who passed away in February after
reaching 100 years of age.

top dealer of Zornes art. The gallery

the International Surfing Museum of

Surfing Sounds
Part II: Jan & Dean. This new exhibit
explores the relationship and affect surfing
music has on the surfing culture and pop
culture, as well. It will feature original
art by Huntington Beach resident,
Dean Torrence of Jan & Dean, and will include memorabilia from the
band's decade-long rise to fame with songs
that topped the charts with 28 hits:
Deadman's Curve, Little Old Lady from
Pasadena, Surf City and that actually
continues today with concert tours. (Note:
Jan Berry passed away in March 2004.) In
addition to this exhibition, Celine Chat

Ground US. Artists Kiel Johnson, Lucrecia Troncoso and P. Williams. are
three creators who explore and investigate the sprawling environment and the
constant development of concrete encroaching on natural spaces. Everyday
materials such as cardboard, wood, paper and sponge are used in the creation
of the artists’ ideal utopias. Event runs through August 31, 2008.

invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica
Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's
significant flyways for migrating birds.
Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views
of these soaring creatures. Location:
Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and
Warner on the east side of the highway.
Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail.
No pets or bikes permitted on the trails.
