June 14, 2008 Chili at the Beach - The Huntington Beach Downtown Business Improvement District hosts an event with best chili recipes. June 14, 2008 Huntington Beach Pier Swim. Event is affordable, fun, and offers prizes in first through third place with trophy awards will be made to each division. The annual City of Huntington Beach Pier Swim, now in its 58th season, is held at the Huntington Beach Pier. You should be able to swim approximately half a mile around the pier during the event to compete and wetsuits aren't permitted. Entrants must be at least 12 years of age. A special Gene Belshe Memorial Perpetual Trophy is awarded to the top team. Award based on top affiliated finishers in any division its subcommittee. Location: Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street. June 14, 2008 Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail. No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
