March 28, 2008 National Professional Paintball League Tour Stop - HB. Often
the launch of the NPPL begins in Huntington Beach, as part of the paintball
league national tour that culminates in a huge play-off, often in San
Diego's Qualcomm Stadium. (see nppl.tv for confirmation). The registration
sells out fast but guests can watch for free. A vendor's showcase at Pier
Plaza, paintball league play on the beach and activities make this one of
the top-attended sporting events annually. 220 top paintball teams from
around the world compete on six fields south of Pier Plaza and
Huntington Beach Pier. Based on the traditional format of Capture the Flag,
the Super 7 format matches two seven-man teams against each other on a field
about the size of a tennis court with a number of inflated shapes that offer
some cover to the players. Each game lasts a maximum of 7 minutes and the
team eliminating the other by capturing their flag wins the entire match. TV
celebrities expected for weekend. Grandstand seats can be purchased. Time:
7:30 am to 8pm. Trade Expo Trade Show daily 9 a.m. to 6 pm.
