Duck-A-Thon Rubber Duck Race and Festival - at the Huntington Beach Pier. Thousands of rubber duckies are launched into the Pacific Ocean, bobbing to shore to win prizes for their owners! Little rubber ducks race at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Corporate Ducks – competing for "Golden Duck Perpetual Trophy" race at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The “Duck Festival” features food, bands and activities. Instructor Denise Fleck of Sunny-Dog Ink has trained with The Red Cross, Pet Tech Inc., American Health & Safety, Learning Corp., and has been a long-time Rescue Volunteer. She'll teach a 4 hour class with skills covered: Muzzling and Safe Approach of an injured or ill animal; How to Find Your Pet’s Pulse, Respiration, Capillary Refill Time; Rescue Breathing & CPR; Bandaging & Splinting Techniques; What to do for a variety of medical situations, and Ten Situations that require IMMEDIATE Veterinary Care. May 17, 2008 Weiner National Dachshund Races. The 12th Annual Dachshund races are lively entertainment. The public can register their dachshunds to race. The procedure is to stand at the end of the gated track each dog is placed into and cajole their pet to run to you. The track is fairly short so the run is not strenuous for most pets.
