March 24, 2012 The Secret of the Pond - Planet Water 2012 Spring Program, Shipley Nature Center's 2nd in a series of 4 family fun days about the water around us invites kids and families to learn the secrets of Blackbird Pond as told by the animal puppets and Patti Potable. Then, take a walk to explore the pond, collect water samples to examine under a microscope and make a miniature pond to take home. Become a Planet Water Protector. Jason Arimoto - Facemelting Ukulele. Hawaii-born, Los Angeles-based musician and featured artist on the Na Hoku Hano Hano Award winning album, Solo Ukulele: The King of Pop. Jason is a two-time winner of the Ukulele Underground Award for Best Vocal Performance of the Year. He has attracted a following for his blues ukulele covers of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” and John Mayer’s Gravity. His original music blends his island roots with reggae and blues, with soulful vocals combining with a bluesy ukulele tone. Jason has performed across the U.S. including the Bean Blossom Blues Festival in Indiana and the world famous Viper Room in Hollywood, California as well as internationally at the Cairns Ukulele Festival in Australia.
