Dog Festivals

Every dog shall have its day in Huntington Beach, California. The city with one of the earliest Southern California dog beaches makes pet ownership truly fit the saying, "Life's a beach."

In addition to Dog Beach where festivals such as the annual Dog Surfing Competition, Surf City Surf Dogs takes place in September, there are also numerous dog gatherings. Coming online in 2015 was the Corgi Beach Day, another special event for pet owners and their corgis. The success of the gathering may prove to deliver yet another annual dog festival in HB.

In Central Park the dog events are numerous and go on all year-long. They usually include dog walks and pet expos near the pet-friendly Breakfast in the Park on Golden West Street near Slater Ave. Foster Care hosts an annual Halloween Costume Contest for dogs. It is one of the dozens of groups with a variety of causes that bring pets into the celebrations.

In Downtown Huntington Beach on Halloween there's the annual Howloween Pet Costume Contest on 5th Street and the Strand. It is held in conjunction with the annual Trick or Treat festival for kids which takes place mostly on Main Street. That event includes petting zoo, pony rides, bounce houses and the tiny tots train ride as well as costume contests and additional fun.

For several years Purina Pro Dog Challenge from the dog food manufacturer has hosted a road show with one stop in HB. This beach permitted event not held at Dog Beach is a professional production. Each year you must watch for their selected national touring stops to see if Huntington Beach is one of the chosen destinations.

For those looking to clean, groom and treat their pet to a relaxing spa treatment, the Paws Chateau in Huntington Beach will be glad to help you get your beautiful boy or girl back to the clean, home-friendly dog that the family loves to caress and cuddle.
