December 17, 2004    Farmer's Market and Art A-Faire Held weekly on Friday  from Noon to Dusk (approx. 5 p.m.) Held most Fridays at the outdoor Pier Plaza next to the Huntington Beach Pier, a certified Farmer's Market sells the finest California grown fruits and vegetables, breads, nuts, flowers and perishables. December 17, 2004   Book Signing & Chess Workshop - Robert Snyder, author and Senior Chess Master who represented the United States on the US Olympic Chess Team, was Western US Chess Champion and qualified for the Semi-finals of the World Chess Championship, will present a free children's chess workshop, book signing and chess "computer" give away at Walden Books at the Westminster Mall on Friday, December 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Snyder's "Unbeatable Chess Lessons for Juniors" and "Winning Chess Tournaments for Juniors" are ranked among the top six chess books in the nation in sales. December 17, 2004  Live Acoustic Music - Corday will play at Pete Mallory's Surf City Sunset Grille. This Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa restaurant is off the hook with acoustic sounds of the newest, upcoming bands in Orange County Friday and Saturday nights. December 17, 2004  Cruise of Lights Boat Tour "Starlight Symphony" departs at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Committee presents Starlight Symphony, the themed 42nd annual narrated boat tour through the waterways of Huntington Harbour. Visitors can see thousands of twinkling lights on decorated boats, docks and homes. Proceeds benefit music programs for students. Parking and ticket location: 16821 Algonquin Street. Cost: $8 - $14. December 17, 2004   Dance - The Nutcracker Ballet performed by the Ballet Repertory Theatre. December 17, 2004  Snowflakes light up the Huntington Beach Pier and Main Street through New Year's Day. Approximately 84 artificial snowflakes strewn with twinkling lights adorn light downtown Huntington Beach. They are a delight to see. There are 48 on the pier and 36 stretching along Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Orange Avenue. Traditionally placed along Main Street with corporate sponsorship plaques attached to them, funding cuts have changed the procedure this year.
