December 7, 2005 Dinner Fundraiser - Home for the
Holidays is the Soroptimist Huntington Beach major annual fundraising event
supporting projects for women and children needing care and services. Dinner - Auction Soroptimist
International Huntington Beach presents "Home for the Holidays" with
proceeds to benefit Project Self Sufficiency, Huntington Beach Community
Clinic and other non-profit organizations. Benefit, entertainment, silent

December 7, 2005 Bikes to Baja Fundraiser - Do you have
an old bike? The Huntington Beach Longboard Club is accepting donations of
old (or new) bikes for children in Mexico. This popular event held in memory
of famed surfer Blackie August culminates first in a Huntington Beach
Surfing Museum Concert (TBD) and then a trip to Baja Mexico where the
refurbished are given to children without bicycles. A "surf out" for August
follows the bike distribution. You may donate bikes now till the 2nd

December 7, 2005 Art - Digital Photographic Essay of
Montecito's Val Verde estate. Perhaps even more significant than its Spanish
Colonial Revival house designed by Bertram Goodhue, are Val Verde's powerful
and poetic gardens, transformed in the 1930s from formal academic
expressions into a simple evocation of an Italian villa garden. Enjoy this
artistic journey into the gardens and halls of Val Verde.

Huntington Beach Art League invites you to attend their December
7,2005 monthly meeting. Our guest artist will be Rhonda Jones, Nationally
recognized Sculptor. Rhonda is well known for her human sculptures and for
her work with animals of the West. The demonstration is free and guests may
invited friends. The presentation will be Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at

December 7, 2005 Daniel Weintraub to Keynote Annual
Economic Conference - The Huntington Beach Chamber and the City of
Huntington Beach will co-sponsor the 19th Annual Economic Conference
“Scoping the Future.” Daniel Weintraub, the public affairs columnist
for the Sacramento Bee is keynote luncheon speaker. Weintraub has been
covering California politics and public policy for 22 years, including the
last 18 in Sacramento. He was a Capitol correspondent for the Los Angeles
Times for eight years and Capitol Bureau Chief for the Orange County
Register for five years before assuming his position with the Sacramento
Bee.
