October 1, 2005    Oktoberfest at Old World Village Restaurant - Get out your lederhosen and learn the Chicken Dance at Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach. The event includes a live German band, dancing and tasty German foods from bratwürst with sauerkraut and potato salad to apple strudel. Shot girls in dirndl skirts sell liqueurs and a bar sells German and import beers plus mixed drinks. Oktoberfest offers adults only nights on Saturdays. This often sells out to standing room only crowds that line up and wait for an opportunity to enter the beer hall. Come early for seating. There's also patio seating for smokers. October 1, 2005 Fall Festival at Sts. Simon & Jude Church - 39th annual Fall Festival has become a fall tradition in southeast Huntington Beach. The event features good family fun with rides, games, food and live entertainment and a raffle drawing on Sunday - grand prize $10,000. October 1, 2005  NAMIWALKS Orange County -  5K walk is organized by National Alliance on Mental Illness. Registration is free, but it is a fundraiser with teams collecting donations. There will also be sponsor items available and live music. The NAMIWALKS 5K begins at Huntington Beach Pier Plaza neart the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street. October 1, 2005    Play - The Golden Dream (Musical) by Joe Syiek (Local writer featuring a new work - World Premiere Production). It is open for middle school short board competitors grade 6 to 8; middle school longboard competion is for boys and girls grade 6 to with 9 foot minimum board size; high school shortboard for grades 9 through 11; high school longboard for boys and girls grades 9 through 11 with 9 foot board minimum; girls surfing shortboard grades 6 through 11; bodyboarding grades 6 through 11. October 1, 2005 - 9th Annual Pilgrimage of the Gabrielino/ Tongva and Juaneno/ Acjachemem people will be held to honor the spirits of their Native American ancestors. The public is invited to join all or part of the pilgrimage of this area of cultural and scientific significance. At noon there will be a gathering at the Bolsa Chica Mesa Point Memorial Garden, established by the Bolsa Chica Land Trust and Native Americans. At 1:30 p.m. the pilgrimage will move behind the Bolsa Chica Mesa, where over 25 graves were destroyed by development. The area was occupied for over 6,000 years by the Tongva / Acjachmem ancestors.
