September 3 to September 4, 2005   Huntington Beach Civil War Reenactment. Experience Civil War Days with costumed actors and vivid displays of life in the 1800's. Central Park is transformed into a battle ground between the Artillery and Infantry with combat, canon fire and encampments. Authentic music and vendor booths include books, period costumes and other items of interest. September 3, 2005   Hello Kitty Boardfest - The Hello Kitty Boardfest is a world-qualifying series-rated event following the same format as the U.S. Open of Surfing: 64 women will compete in the main event for $20,000 in prizes, and 32 more will battle in the longboard competition. The grand finale of its all-new, all-girl surf festival series to be held at the Huntington Beach Pier from September 3 through 5. The four-star, World Qualifying Series (WQS)-rated event will attract the world’s best short and longboard surfers battling for an overall prize purse of $21,500. Led by all-stars like Serena Brooke (AUS), Heather Clark (South Africa), Holly Beck (Palos Verdes) and Jacqueline Silva (Brazil), 64 world-class women, representing America, Australia, Brazil, France, Hawaii, South Africa, South America and New Zealand will compete. The event includes games, vendor booths with free give-away items and activities designed for girls. September 3, 2005   Surfing - National Scholastic Surfing Association NSSA 2005/2006 Southwest Conference Open Season Students Only. This AA rated 2-day event is contest #1. It runs from September 3 to 4. It will be held at South Jetty in Oceanside. It is open to students only (age as of 1/1/06) mens 16 and up; juniors 13 to 15 years; boys 12 and under; mini groms 10 and under; longboard all ages; womens all ages. September 3, 2005   Roller Blading Fun Roll - Join the group of roller bladers who meet near the Huntington Beach Pier for a fun roller blade 16-mile round trip at an easy going pace (all levels and ages, plus bicycles welcome) from Huntington Beach to Newport Beach.  Time: 10:30 a.m. Cost: Free. September 3, 2005   Newland House Museum Tour - The historic Newland House is features a museum and docent led tours from local historians who provide information about the two-story Victorian home built in 1898. September 3, 2005   Bolsa Chica Wetlands and Mesa Tour meets the first Saturday of every month. Time: 10 a.m. to Noon. This is a two-hour walking tour of the Bolsa Chica Mesa and Wetlands conducted by the Bolsa Chica Land Trust. This docent-led tour makes five stops along the walkbridge and loop trails of the wetlands. Meet in the Ecological Reserve parking lot.
