February 4, 2006 Surfing - National Scholastic Surfing Association NSSA 2005/2006 Season Juniors competition. Contest 6 in this series is A rated. It will be held at Golden West Street near Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach. It is open for middle school short board competitors grade 6 to 8; middle school longboard competion is for boys and girls grade 6 to with 9 foot minimum board size; high school shortboard for grades 9 through 11; high school longboard for boys and girls grades 9 through 11 with 9 foot board minimum; girls surfing shortboard grades 6 through 11; bodyboarding grades 6 through 11. Fee: $50 one time membership (t-shirt included). $30 pre-registration; $20 second event fee; day of registration as space permits is $40. February 4, 2006   Surfing - National Scholastic Surfing Association NSSA 2005/2006 Southwest Conference Open Season Students Only. This A rated 2-day event is contest #7. It runs from February 4 to 5. It will be held at South Jetty in Oceanside. It is open to students only (age as of 1/1/06) mens 16 and up; juniors 13 to 15 years; boys 12 and under; mini groms 10 and under; longboard all ages; womens all ages. February 4, 2006   Art - Windows Gallery in Huntington Beach Central Library is holding its annual Member's Co-op Show of the Huntington Beach Art League. Located on the first floor of the library, the exhibit features works from amateur and professional artists with varied themes that range from landscapes to abstracts. This mixed media exhibit is free to see. Membership to the nonprofit Huntington Beach art club is open to the public. February 4, 2006   Saturday Car Cruisers known as the Donuts Derelicts share Hot Rods, Street Cars, Woodies, Imports and a variety of restored vehicles at Adams and Magnolia Ave. Parking is available in the Ace parking lot or Adams Avenue Donut Shop with overflow parking extending to Drug Emporium lot across Adams.  Time 6 a.m., over by approx. 8:30 a.m. No phone number available. February 4, 2006   Art Exhibit - Anderson Gallery features fine arts exhibitis with a collection of watercolors, oils and sculptures and mixed media from renown artists Bill Anderson, Raul Anguiano, Henry Fukuhara, Howard Hitchcock, Milford Zornes and more. February 4, 2006   Roller Blading Fun Roll - Join the group of roller bladers who meet near the Huntington Beach Pier for a fun roller blade 16-mile round trip at an easy going pace (all levels and ages, plus bicycles welcome) from Huntington Beach to Newport Beach.  Time: 10:30 a.m. Cost: Free. February 4, 2006    Gardening - Volunteers are invited to Shipley Nature Center. Everyone is invited to participate in planting, weeding, and other restoration activities the first Saturday of each month. Gates are open from 9 to noon while we give the Nature Center TLC (tender loving care). Bring a pair of gardening gloves and any gardening tools you have available such as shovel, hoe, or rake. Please label tools clearly with your name. Wear sturdy shoes (closed toe, please) and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.  Time: 9 a.m. to Noon. February 4, 2006  Miss Huntington Beach - Miss Huntington Beach Scholarship Pageant 2006 is presented by The Women of Action / Sand Dollars of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce. Soaring Toward Success is the theme for Miss Huntington Beach Scholarship Pageant. This pageant is a part of the Miss America Organization and a preliminary to the Miss California Pageant. February 4, 2006   Belmont Shore - Feb 4, 2006  Chocolate Festival: Incorporating the love for chocolate and Valentine’s Day in a celebration of chocolate. Over 25 restaurants and 30 retail stores offer up their favorite concoctions. Chocolate lovers purchase tickets  and stroll down 2nd street tasting chocolate from all over the world. This event even has a “Homemade Chocolate Dessert Contest” with about 40 entries plus a chocolate pie-eating contest for kids! Sponsored by the Belmont Shore Association.
