November 16, 2006 2006 Play, Farce - Lend Me A Tenor. The story is set in 1934. The Cleveland Grand Opera is celebrating its biggest night in history. World famous tenor Tito Merelli, known to his fans as “Il Stupendo” is scheduled to sing the lead in Otello, produced as a gala fundraiser set to raise $50,000 for the company. Before the star gets beyond his hotel room, things begin to unravel. Chaos sets in when a “Dear John” letter is mistaken for a suicide note and Tito’s appearance onstage seems unlikely. But for Henry Saunders, General Manager of the Cleveland Opera, “the show must go on!” . . . under any circumstance - even if it means sending a replacement onstage. November 16, 2006 Play - Uncommon Women and Others is a Golden West College theater production with Director Martie Ramm. Tony Award winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein's first play, Uncommon Women and Others, is a comedy about women coming to grips with the rigors of contemporary society. This play delves into the lives, loves and aspirations of a group of graduates from an Ivy League women's college, Mount Holyoke College (Wasserstein's alma mater), who have gathered for a class reunion. They meet meet for lunch one day in 1978, and through a series of flashbacks and interrelated scenes, these "uncommon" women struggle to hold onto their hopes and dreams, while confronting a challenging and often confusing world that college has not prepared them for in the wake of feminism wave. Uncommon Women and Others appeared as a TV production in 1979 and featured Meryl Streep and Swoosie Kurtz. Time: 8 p.m. (running time 120 minutes).
