October 22, 2006  - Car Show  "Das O.C.T.O. Fest 2006". Orange County Transporter Organization presents "Das O.C.T.O. Fest 2006". This is THE fall bus event. It's a swap and display meet, for 1967 and earlier buses, held at the Huntington Beach High School in Huntington Beach, CA. It's a vintage Volkswagen show featuring pre-1967 bugs, buses and VW vehicles. It includes food vendors, vee-dub open house on many of the buses often used as traveling homes during the 1960s and 70s, and a drawing with prizes. Location: Huntington Beach High School, 1905 Main Street, enter off Utica and Main. Cost: 1967 and Earlier Buses (Display or Swap) Vendors (Non-Bus and 1968 and later busses): $40(approx.) October 22, 2006 ISA World Surfing Games 2006 will be held in Huntington Beach, California, USA, October 14 - 22, 2006. The ISA World Surfing Games 2006, hosted by Surfing America will be the 21st edition of the biennial contest that determines the world's top surfing nations and awards individual surfing titles and medals in the categories of shortboard surfing (men and women), bodyboard (men and women) and longboard. The tradition started in 1964 at Manly Beach in Sydney, Australia, where surfers from around the world representing their home nation competed for men and women's surfing titles. Location: South Side of Huntington Beach Pier near Pacific Coast Highway & Main Street, Huntington Beach, California. Time: Daily, daylight hours.

October 22, 2006   Oktoberfest at Old World Village. Get out your lederhosen and learn the Chicken Dance at Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach. The event includes entertainment with German bands, dancing and tasty German foods. A variety of German and assorted beers on tap are sold as well as mixed drinks and liqueurs in shot glasses sold by "shot girls" wearing dirndl skirts. October 22, 2006  Art Exhibit - Anderson Gallery features fine arts exhibits with a collection of watercolors, oils and sculptures and mixed media from renown artists Bill Anderson, Raul Anguiano, Henry Fukuhara, Howard Hitchcock, Milford Zornes and more. October 22, 2006  Play, Musical  - A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum written by Burt Shevelove & Larry Gelbart with music by Stephen Sondheim. Made famous in a movie that included actors Zero Mostel, Phil Silvers and Buster Keaton, it's a story about Pseudolus, who's desperate to win his freedom. The slave attempts to help his young master, Hero, earn the love of a courtesan, Philia. Meanwhile, Pseudolus has to outsmart Hero's parents, the slave-master, Lycus, and the large man that has already paid for Philia, Miles Gloriosus. Also, an old man Erronious is desperately searching for his lost children. In the end, it turns out that Philia and Miles are brother and sister and the children of Erronious. Further, Philia is now allowed to marry Hero and Pseudolus gains his freedom. Reserved seating tickets: $15; $12  Student, Senior 65+;  Free Children 3 & under.
