September events include the weekly Farmer's Market and Art Fair, daily attractions such as art gallery exhibits, movies, lap swimming in public pools, Frisbee disc golf and beaches that are always available for Huntington Beach vacations or local entertainment. Nightlife in Huntington Beach includes Happy Hours discounts, DJs, live bands, karaoke and comedy.

September 1, 2006    Farmer's Market and Art A-Faire Held weekly on Friday  from Noon to Dusk (approx. 5 p.m.) Held most Fridays at the outdoor Pier Plaza next to the Huntington Beach Pier, a certified Farmer's Market sells the finest California grown fruits and vegetables, breads, nuts, flowers and perishables. The Art Fair held in conjunction with the Farmer's Market features over 50 vendors selling unique, hand made gifts and crafts. Call: (714) 536-2213 or (714) 846-5509. September 1, 2006  Art - Windows Gallery in Huntington Beach Central Library on the first floor features works from amateur and professional artists with varied themes that range from landscapes to abstracts. This mixed media exhibit is free to see. Location: 7111 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach, CA. 

September 1, 2006 Plein Air Painting Art Contest - Artists paint scenes around Huntington Beach until a specific date (Sept.16). The works are then displayed and sold at auction as a fundraising event for the Huntington Beach Art Center.  The preview reception will be held on September 15 and the public reception will be held on September 16, 2006. September 1, 2006   Shipley Nature Center features trails, interactive touch and feel displays for youth, and wildlife such as birds, turtles and plants endemic to the region. September 1, 2006 - Civil War Re-enactment Encampment - Setup begins for this annual Labor Day Weekend event in Huntington Central Park behind Central Library. Costumed actors portray the mid-1800 Civil War era in which many Californians traveled east to participate in. Central Park is transformed into a battleground between the Artillery and Infantry with combat, cannon fire and encampments. A special twilight concert will be held on Saturday. Also on site will be vendor booths featuring books, period costumes and even youth dressed to the era. The event is sponsored by the Huntington Beach Historical Society.
