April 28, 2007 Play - Ah, Wilderness! This comedy by Eugene O'Neill takes place around the 4th of July, 1906, and focuses on 17-year-old Richard Miller, his family and his coming of age in Connecticut. The title derives from Quatrain XI of Edward Fitzgerald's translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, which is one of main character's favorite poems. Ah, Wilderness was made into a movie in 1935 starring Wallace Beery, Lionel Barrymore and a young Mickey Rooney. Festival seating tickets: $12; $10 Student, Senior 65+; Free Children 3 & under. April 28, 2007 Play - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey. Made famous by Jack Nicholson in a movie of this name, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is about a prisoner who fakes insanity, believing it will be more comfortable than jail. Transferred to a mental institution, he discovers the hospital is run with an iron fist by a domineering nurse. Presented by Huntington Beach Playhouse. Cost: $20. April 28, 2007 Golf Tournament - The City of Huntington Beach is hosting its 19th annual golf tournament in conjunction with Community Services Department at Meadowlark Golf Club, the only public course in Huntington Beach. Open to all women and men, registration is limited to 100 golfers. Awards will be given to the top 10 players for categories: low gross; low net. One winner each will be awarded longest drive; closest to the pin. Peoria handicap system will be in play. Registration: $80/person includes green fees, golf cart, tee prizes, food/drink coupon.
