the Library when they present two authors. Isaiah Wilner, author of The Man
Time Forgot, tells the story of the genius behind TIME magazine,
Briton Hadden, and his betrayal by Henry R. Luce. Sven Crongeyer,
author of Six Gun Sound, shares tales of the early history of the Los
Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Los Angeles, a dusty and lawless
frontier, was a combustible mixture of Civil War veterans, failed gold
prospectors & desperados, and experienced the highest recorded murder rate
in U.S. History in the 1800's. Doors open at 11:30; luncheon begins at

curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Preserve, one of
the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars
to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific
Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway.
Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail. No pets or bikes
