January 1, 2008 Polar Plungeis held next to the Huntington Beach Pier. January 1, 2008 Pier Plaza Plunge - 8th Annual Huntington Beach Pier Plaza Plunge and Huntington Beach Host Lions Club 70th Anniversary Celebration. This year the Pier Plunge (used to be called Pier's Polar Plunge) will include a pancake breakfast at Zack's Pier Plazafrom 9:30 to 11 a.m. Breakfast Cost: $5. At Noon participants can plunge into the Pacific Ocean or simply show up and sponsor the event with a donation. Cost: $10 donation includes certificate of participation. January 1, 2008 – Rose Parade Excursion. Attend the 119th Rose Parade hassle free by riding in a bus from Huntington Beach. The Community Services Department has chartered two buses to the 2008 Rose Parade. Grandstand seating at 2000 East Colorado Blvd. Limited to 100 registrants, so the tickets will not last long! All registrants under 17 years must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must purchase a ticket. Buses depart from the Civic Center, 2000 Main Street, at 6:45 a.m. “sharp” and return at approximately 3:00 p.m.Call (714) 536-5486. Cost: $95/person.
