March 8, 2008 - Wavecrest Beach Cruiser Meet. Wavecrest Woody Meet is an annual car show open to all motorized beach vehicles (known as beach cruisers) manufactured through 1970. Open to all station wagons, sedan deliveries, convertibles, VW transporters, nomads, woodies, pick-ups and other similar vehicles of the era, trophies will be awarded to "best of" entrants. While the event is held along Main Street, this year an effort to extend and host more of the event at Pier Plaza will allow attendees to enjoy both the Main Street activities and the Pacific Ocean setting. March 8, 2008 Play - The Treasure of the Sierra Madre by Herb Robins from the Novel by B. Traven, directed by Tom Amen. Set in 1930’s Mexico the play captures Traven’s scorn for regimentation and earthly goods, and his passion for individual liberty and the primitive past. Unbridled greed and an illusive treasure that proves secondary to the thrill of the hunt is what The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is about. Cost: $12/general admission. March 8, 2008 Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail. No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
