May 14, 2008 Art exhibition - Celine Chat,  a surfer and artist from France, exhibits at the International Surfing Museum of Huntington Beach in California a combination of her artwork made in Australia , Caribbean and Brazil : Sharing Perspectives. May 14, 2008  New exhibition-  Surfing Sounds Part II: Jan & Dean. This new exhibit explores the relationship and affect surfing music has on the surfing culture and pop culture, as well. It  features original art by Huntington Beach resident, Dean Torrence of Jan & Dean, plus memorabilia from the band's decade-long rise to fame with songs that topped the charts with 28 hits: Deadman's Curve, Little Old Lady from Pasadena, Surf City and more.

May 14, 2008   Art Exhibit - Windows Gallery features Huntington Beach Art League 2008 Open Juried Show. Windows Gallery in Huntington Beach Central Library features works from amateur and professional artists with varied themes that range from landscapes to abstracts. May 14, 2008 Surfing West Coast Championship. 2008 Gold Coast / West Coast Championship will take place south of the Huntington Beach Pier. Sponsored by the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA), this five day event is part of organization that requires participating students maintain specific academic standards. nssa.org

May 14, 2008  Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail.  No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
