August 22, 2009 Anniejr., Musical.  Plays, concerts and musicals are back at the Huntington Beach High School Theater which has undergone a facelift and is now open. Enjoy Annie, featuring Orange County Children’s Theatre. There will be eight performances of Annie beginning, Friday, August 14 and concluding on Sunday, August 23.  Performances are on Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday afternoons at 2:30 p.m.; Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. Tickets for Annie range in price from $12 to $14 and can be purchased online at occt.org, or at the door. Fire rings are located north of the Huntington Beach Pier at Bolsa Chica State Beach on Pacific Coast Highway (between Warner Ave. & Seapoint St.) and south of the Huntington Beach Pier on PCH between 1st Street and Beach Blvd. at Huntington City Beach or between Beach Blvd. & Brookhurst Street at Huntington State Beach. Cost: Free, first come-first serve.

 

August 22, 2009  Donut Derelicts - Classic and hot rod car show, one of the oldest unofficial car club gatherings in California & U.S. meets each Saturday morning near Adams Ave. Donuts parking lot from 6  to 9 a.m. Be mindful of neighbors trying to sleep in nearby. August 22, 2009 Fun Roll - Roller Skate, roller blade, bike, jog and walk with a group of enthusiasts that have been making the 16-mile round trip trek along the beach path each week for nearly a decade. The group meets around 10 am at Pier Plaza north of the Huntington Beach Pier (Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street). August 22, 2009  Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail.  No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
