Huntington Beach Boards

Huntington Beach's favorite board room is the ocean. There are surf board, boogie boards, body boards, skim boards, short boards, long boards, custom boards, Greek boards, and every type of board one can imagine.

As a group of teen boys hit the sands of HB with their backpacks slung across their shoulders, they head for the water to experience the thrill of a ride on a board. In newspapers and magazines, profile stories about CEO's and executive types often include jokes about their boardroom activities, referring to the beach and surfing, of course. In mountain cities it's all about the skiing, but near the ocean, it tends to be about the surfing, swimming and boarding.  While you can rent a board at beach concession shops beneath the pier, you can also purchase your own board at a local store. If you head over to places like Walmart on Beach Boulevard at Talbert Ave., you'll find body boards reasonably priced for the longer stays where it makes more sense to purchase than rent.

And believe it or not, some tourists come for the board. They actually make trips from around the globe to pick up a custom surfboard from local shapers who have reputations for their quality products with unique characteristics.
