February 18, 2006   Surfing - National Scholastic Surfing Association NSSA 2005/2006 Southwest Conference Explorer Season competition. Contest 8 in this series is an A rated 2-day event from February 18 to 19. It will be held at Ponto in Carlsbad. It is open to (age as of 1/1/06) mens 18 and up; juniors 15 to 17 years; boys 13 to 14 years old; menehuene 12 and under; longboard all ages; masters 24 to 34 years; seniors 35 to 44; super seniors 45 and up; girls 14 and under; womens all ages. February 18, 2006   Art - Windows Gallery in Huntington Beach Central Library is holding its annual Member's Co-op Show of the Huntington Beach Art League. Located on the first floor of the library, the exhibit features works from amateur and professional artists with varied themes that range from landscapes to abstracts. This mixed media exhibit is free to see. Membership to the nonprofit Huntington Beach art club is open to the public. February 18,  2006    Tour -  Take a tour of the Shipley Nature Center. Trained docents provide renovation information, answer questions, and lead tours. You are free to wander the trails, view renovation progress, and spot birds, turtles and other wildlife. Note that the gates are closed for inclement weather, and the Nature Center may be closed for major holiday weekends and the fifth Saturday in some months.
