Friends of the Library (FOTL) hosts celebrated cultural critic and investigative journalist. Lord teaches at USC and her articles have appeared in major publications. Cost: $20, seats are limited. Reservations and checks must be received no later than Monday, September 10.

Restore the Wetlands - Rabbit Island, ae is a 20-acre rare dune habitat at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is surrounded by coastal salt marsh, but is infested with non-native Iceplant and other invasives. Help remove these invasive plants and learn more about Bolsa Chica--wear work gloves, water is provided. Space limited, reservations recommended, volunteers are limited to age 15 years and up.
