April 19, 2008 Guy Takayama Longboard Pro Am. 2nd annual Guy Takayama Longboard Pro Am amateur surfing competition, named after Oceanside surfer Guy Takayama and his 23rd annual longboard event in Oceanside, this Huntington Beach version includes West Coast longboard surf clubs. Ages 10 to 70+ will compete in amateur noseriding and longboard surfing. Location: Huntington Beach Pier (south side), Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street, Huntington Beach, CA.

April 19, 2008 Huntington Beach Tree Society Inc. celebrates Arbor Day. In partnership with the City of Huntington Beach, Tree City events will be held at Gibbs Park which is located on Graham St. (across the street from Meadow Lark Golf Course). Tree planting and butterfly plant planting begins at 9:00 am and Arbor Day ceremony begins at 11:30 am. Public invited to restore this Monarch butterfly park by helping with the plantings. Tools will be provided to workers.

April 19, 2008 Earth Day Planting at Bolsa Chica. Volunteer to help restore the Bolsa Chica Mesa with planting and watering native plants, guided by the Bolsa Chica Stewards. All that's needed are closed-toed shoes, sun protection, and gloves. Bring the family, bring the kids or come by yourself. The Bolsa Chica Land Trust will provide the rest—including lunch. April 19, 2008 Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail. No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
