Saturday, September 17, 2005   Oktoberfest at Old World Village Restaurant - Get out your lederhosen and learn the Chicken Dance at Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach. The event includes a live German band, dancing and tasty German foods from bratwürst with sauerkraut and potato salad to apple strudel. Shot girls in dirndl skirts sell liqueurs and a bar sells German and import beers plus mixed drinks. Oktoberfest offers adults only nights on Saturdays. This often sells out to standing room only crowds that line up and wait for an opportunity to enter the beer hall. Come early for seating. There's also patio seating for smokers. September 17, 2005 Surfing - National Scholastic Surfing Association NSSA 2005/2006 Southwest Conference Explorer Season competition. Contest 1 in this series is an AA rated 2-day event from September 17 to September 18. It will be held at 9th Street and Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach. It is open to (age as of 1/1/06) mens 18 and up; juniors 15 to 17 years; boys 13 to 14 years old; menehuene 12 and under; longboard all ages; masters 24 to 34 years; seniors 35 to 44; super seniors 45 and up; girls 14 and under; womens all ages. September 17, 2005   Children's Play - Annie Warbucks from Orange County Children's Theater in cooperation with The City of Stanton. This magical sequel to Broadway’s favorite family musical begins right where Annie left off. It’s Christmas Morning, 1933, and everyone in Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks’ household is celebrating the billionaire’s adoption of Annie, an orphan who charmed her way into his heart. However, their celebration is short-lived when New York Child Welfare Commissioner Harriet Doyle arrives. The commissioner declares that New York law does not allow a single man to adopt a child. Warbucks has 60 days to find a wife and a mother for Annie, or Annie goes back to the orphanage. Directed by Kathy Busby, Musical Direction by Crystal Barron, Choreography by Tara Pitt.
